Classically LA

Last week was the reception and opening of the Classically LA exhibit sponsored by the California Art Club at The Fine Arts Building in downtown LA.  Lots of fun was had by all and it was a wonderful show with a variety of sculptors. Thanks to all who came.  The exhibit will be up for a month.  The building is open 24/7 and as you can see by the photos, it is worth a visit alone, what a beautiful building!  The piece I have there is called "Artists Unite" and it's 36" tall... here's a description of the piece:

"Inspired by several artists' quest for greater creative control during the early days of the burgeoning Hollywood film industry, United Artists Corporation was formed on February 5, 1919 by actors Charlie Chaplin and Douglas Fairbanks, actress Mary Pickford, and director D.W. Griffith, each a giant in the arts.  Nearly a hundred years and decades of Los Angeles film history later, sculptor Rubén Procopio has brilliantly captured an exuberant, spontaneous moment when Chaplin, Fairbanks and Pickford ham it up for the camera just after the contract signing ceremony, with Griffith looking on.  Procopio's vibrant, animated resin sculpture brings to modern life the very human, timeless dynamics of sheer joy, optimism and boundless enthusiasm for the future."

Gallery Event January 10 Fine Arts Building Downtown L.A.

I'd like to invite you to join me this Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 5-7pm at the opening reception of a California Art Club sculpture exhibit which includes a 36" piece of my recent sculpture work called "Artists Unite." 

The gallery exhibit (open for about a month) and opening event (part of the monthly Art Walk), will be held at the spectacular Fine Arts Building in downtown L.A.  Please see attached flyer for details on the attached postcard.
